An open invoice with an amount remaining displays a required payment dialog before you can continue using the app. An owner, admin, or billing manager can open the payment page, pay, or use another payment method.

Currency and existing subscriptions

New purchases use the workspace currency when a conversion rate is available. Review the exact currency, amount and applicable tax in the payment dialog before confirming. An existing subscription keeps its agreed contract currency and price. For example, a EUR contract continues to be invoiced in EUR even if the workspace displays USD. For older payments, the payment provider may convert that invoice into the local currency selected at checkout; the payment receipt shows the actual paid amount. This also applies to phone-number rental and SMS registration. Current contract prices come from billing records; if a historical amount cannot be verified, open Manage billing rather than treating a converted catalog estimate as the renewal price. Automatic top-ups keep the amount and currency accepted when the rule is saved. A changed exchange rate does not increase that saved charge. Older foreign-currency rules may require you to confirm their amount again under Settings → Balance.

Pay with a saved method

For credit top-ups, new subscriptions, add-ons, SMS registration and paid phone numbers, eligible saved cards appear first in the Review and pay dialog. Choose a card to continue payment in that dialog. Add new card opens the secure hosted payment page; purchases without an eligible saved card open that page directly. Review the total, currency and tax before confirming payment. You can choose to save a new method for future purchases. Available methods depend on the billing account, currency and purchase. A bank or wallet may require confirmation outside the app, and bank debits can remain pending until payment is confirmed. When changing an existing subscription, choose the card for that change and future renewals. The current subscription remains in place while a required payment is pending. Automatic renewals and Auto-Topup continue to use their saved payment settings. Saved methods belong to the billing account that processes the purchase. A billing company change may require another method. Credits, add-ons and paid phone numbers become available only after confirmed payment. Customers using a reseller’s platform use the payment methods saved with that reseller. Cards are not shared between billing accounts. Team members buying phone numbers continue on the secure payment page.

Change a subscription through API or MCP

Use the subscription change review and confirmation operations in the Billing API reference, or the Review subscription change and Confirm subscription change MCP tools. Send the complete desired plan and add-on selection. Review does not submit the change or charge a card. Present the returned summary, amount due, currency and masked card to the person approving the purchase. Confirm only after their explicit approval, using the references from that review. References expire after 15 minutes and work only for the same authorized user and workspace. A higher amount or changed terms requires another review. When no payment is due, confirm without selecting a card. These operations modify existing subscriptions. They require a user-owned billing credential, billing write permission and an owner, admin or billing role. If payment remains pending, open the returned billing link and follow the payment steps. Sign in to the workspace if prompted. Upgrades become available only after payment is confirmed.

Pay an outstanding invoice

The payment dialog appears throughout the app and cannot be dismissed while an outstanding invoice remains. It covers workspace plan, phone number, add-on and custom invoices, including invoices from a previous billing company.
  1. Select Pay invoice to open the oldest payable invoice.
  2. Complete payment. Changing a saved card alone does not settle an invoice.
  3. Return to the app. Payment is checked automatically; use Check payment to check again. If more invoices remain, pay those too.
Only verified payment or closure of all outstanding invoices restores app access. Team members without billing permissions must ask a workspace owner, admin, or billing manager to pay. Signing out, switching to another workspace and completing checkout remain possible. If an invoice has no payment page, the action opens billing management. A failed plan payment also removes paid plan features and included plan credits until payment is confirmed. Purchased top-up credits remain in the wallet.

Manage billing

The Manage billing card at the end of the Plan page opens:
  • invoice history and invoice PDFs,
  • payment methods,
  • cancellation at the end of the billing period.
Change plans on Settings → Plan, where you can compare available prices, features, and add-ons.

Top-up invoices

Successful manual and automatic credit top-ups generate an invoice in the workspace’s billing account. Credits are added only after the payment succeeds. A failed top-up never changes the existing wallet balance. A failed automatic top-up whose invoice was canceled shows a dismissible notice, not a payment block. No credits were purchased. Use Change payment method or Top up credits to recover in Settings → Balance. The notice disappears after a successful credit purchase and otherwise appears once per failed attempt in each browser session.

Auto-Topup

Open Settings → Balance to turn on Auto-Topup so the workspace never runs dry mid-campaign. Once enabled, set two amounts:
  • When credit balance drops below — the threshold that triggers a top-up.
  • Top up amount — how much credit to purchase each time the balance crosses that threshold.
The first manual credit purchase on the Balance page saves a card; Auto-Topup reuses that saved card automatically, so no separate card entry is needed once one top-up has gone through. If the balance drops below the threshold and Auto-Topup is off (or unavailable), the workspace instead gets a low-balance notification.
Set the threshold high enough to cover an in-progress call’s credit hold — see How usage is billed for how holds work — so a burst of calls doesn’t outrun the top-up.

Refunds and cancellations

Purchased credits are consumed in real time and are not refunded once used. Canceling a paid plan stops the next renewal but does not refund the current billing period — the plan and its included credits remain active until the period ends.

API and MCP

The Public API exposes:
  • POST /api/v1/billing/invoice-payment
  • POST /api/v1/billing/portal
Both return a short-lived billing_url on your platform or white-label domain. These two REST endpoints remain available with a valid credential when API Access is paused after a failed plan payment. Only a current workspace owner, admin, or billing member can create a link, and the credential must carry billing:write; billing:read is not sufficient. The equivalent MCP tools are create_invoice_payment_link and create_billing_portal_link. They enforce the same role and billing:write requirements. MCP access remains controlled separately by Connect AI / MCP. GET /api/v1/billing/payment-status and the get_payment_status MCP tool report whether payment is required, the oldest outstanding amount, the remaining invoice count and an automatic top-up failure notice. They require billing:read. The status endpoint remains available when API Access is paused. It does not return a payment link; creating a link still requires billing:write and a current owner, admin or billing role.
